StellaShield

Glass that cools a building on its own — a PNIPAM water gel layer sealed between two panes, regulating heat with no energy input.

The Venture

As COO and co-founder, I designed the prototype: a PNIPAM water gel layer set between two panes of glass that turns opaque as it warms, blocking heat before it enters a building. Because the response is passive, the glass consumes no electricity — cutting cooling load, energy use, and CO2 emissions at the same time.

Alongside prototyping, I led research and the value proposition behind the product, framing the case for passive cooling in markets where air conditioning is expensive or simply unavailable.
